Tuck Everlasting

I don't remember who suggested this book to me, but I finally went to the library to grab recommendations (it's a long list!), and this was the first I read.

I think it is a great family book, short and sweet. It lacks a lot of action and gore, which is what I mostly read, but it is a lot deeper than it at first seems.

Tuck Everlasting, by Natalie Babbitt, is about the first adventure of a young girl who finally decides to do something slightly out of the ordinary: go into her family's woods, where elf music is sometimes heard, and sunlight dances in the air between the trees.

It sounds like an average fairy book, but that changes when she meets the Tucks, who are not your normal elf-type Immortals. I shan't say anymore for risk of spoiling it, but I really recommend it.

Also, if you plan to be at Calling All Readers in two weeks (the week of Sep. 10th), we will be having a book discussion of Tuck Everlasting
