The Stormlight Archive Pt. 1

My cousin recommended his favorite series to me, and I finally got around to reading it.

Lets cut it short and just say that it is my new favorite series.

I love this series for so many reasons, including but not limited to;

-It is long, I have been reading little else for a month, and I am not even halfway through book 3 yet.

-The characters are amazing. Something wonderful happened in the beginning of #1: I did not know that much about the character from the start. A lot of authors, even really good ones, have a tendency to info-dump about the character. In this, you can watch the character change while still learning about them. I kid you not, I'm about 4,000 pages in and I still don't know how one of the main characters got to be how he is. But, it isn't frustrating. It is just fun, because it progresses slowly, and you get to wonder about it.

-Magic!!! The magic system in The Stormlight Archive is complex and well thought out, the best I've read.

-World-building. You can tell that Brandon Sanderson has put a lot of effort into Roshar just by how complex everything is. The depth that you can dig into the world in this is truly amazing, and more than once I have cried with joy while reading this series (not exaggerating, I have never read something so good.)

-I'm going to mention characters again. Not only do they have a depth to them, they act like people. Of course, some of them have a problem with running toward fights, but they always have good reasons.

Well, this is getting to be pretty long, so I'll continue in another post. Be warned, though: this series is not for the faint of heart. It is long, very long, and not an easy read. I found myself sitting back and just breathing several times, especially after intense scenes.

But, if you love fantasy, and thinking, and have enough time to give these books the attention they deserve, you will be rewarded with possibly the best series you have, or will ever, read.

Keep reading!!!
