Trumpet of the Swan (CAR)
The Trumpet of the Swan has been one of my favorite books since childhood. It's really sweet, and is not without humor. I think it is a wonderful read-aloud. I read it to my younger brother, and we both had a great time coming up with voices for the characters. I also think it showcases a slightly whimsical version of our world, which the author has a definite talent for.
In Charlotte's Web, E. B. White gives us a farmyard full of quirky friends. In Stuart Little, he shows us a city, and the excitement of life on the road. However, Trumpet is my favorite of the three.
For one, it combines the love story in Stuart Little with the more deep elements of Charlotte's Web, showing not only romance but familial affection and friendship.
It also is an interesting twist on the classic theme of overcoming not only the world, but yourself.
I won't spoil it, but I really suggest you read it.
CAR- we will be meeting about this book on Tuesday the 4th of November, 2019, so please feel free to join us and discuss!!!
Keep reading, friends!!!
